About the Summer School

The Tourism Research Methods Summer School is organized under the scientific leadership of Prof. Dr. Serena Volo with the aim of offering a platform for PhD students, Post-docs and Researchers/Assistant Professors to engage in the tourism research methods and tourism analytics as to enable them to acquire, perfect and refine their knowledge and expertise in the area of designing and applying appropriate and novel research methods. The Summer School also offers recommendations, strategies and tips on publishing when using novel, alternative or controversial research methods.

The event is organized throughout a week during the summer months. The Summer School can be held online or in presence.

The TRM summer School is organized as part of the Research Cluster on Tourism, Marketing and Regional Development of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy.

Technicalities: The TRM Summer School will take place via the video conferencing software Zoom. To enable full engagement, participants must have access to their own computing facilities (laptop or desktop PC), a reliable internet connection and adequate audio and visual equipment in the form of a webcam. Given the nature of the Summer School participants will be required to have the camera “on” at all times.


What you’ll learn

During the summer school, participants develop a conceptualization of research methods for tourism and will be able to link them to their research questions and settings. Participants will engage directly with the invited speakers and the different methods presented.
